Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview. You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table. However, there are some inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, you state that freelance consultants earning $75,000-$99,999 and $100,000+ both comprised 40%, but the table shows different figures for these categories. Additionally, the comparison of salary data is somewhat confusingly phrased, making it difficult for the reader to follow the specific trends. To improve, ensure that data points are transcribed precisely and that comparisons are structured more clearly to highlight the differences between sectors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'In terms of', 'Meanwhile', and 'By contrast' to link ideas. However, the progression within the second body paragraph is slightly mechanical, and some transitions feel forced. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied cohesive structures rather than relying on simple sentence starters. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two distinct data sets, which helps the overall readability of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'comprised', and 'represented'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'post graduated study' instead of 'postgraduate study' and 'largest salary' when referring to a percentage. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the precision is occasionally lacking, which affects the clarity of the data description. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations related to statistical reporting and ensure that terminology is used accurately in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the tables compares' (subject-verb agreement) and 'full -time' (inconsistent spacing). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor issues with spacing around symbols and commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures to demonstrate greater control.
