Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data. However, the analysis of the table is slightly underdeveloped. While you mention that government sector salaries increased, you could have provided more specific comparisons between the starting and five-year salaries to better illustrate the trends. Additionally, there are some minor inaccuracies in data reporting, such as stating that the private sector salary was 'double' the other sectors at the start, which is not clearly supported by the provided visual data. To reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are precise and directly linked to the figures provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'However' and 'Overall', to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved for better flow. For instance, the final sentence about freelance consultants feels disconnected from the preceding paragraph. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus and use a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more naturally, rather than relying on simple transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'proportion', 'fluctuated', and 'employment'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'underdratues' (undergraduate), 'unemploed' (unemployed), and 'studes' (students). These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the report. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure you proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling mistakes. Using more varied collocations related to data description would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'the anthropologists work in different private and governments sector' (should be 'working in different private and government sectors') and 'it a large section of any other' (missing verb). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent. While these errors rarely impede the overall meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and checking for missing articles and verb forms.
