Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the pie chart and the table. You successfully identified the main features, such as the prevalence of full-time work and the salary disparities in the government sector. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, you mention that 8% of students' conditions are 'not given,' but this is a misinterpretation of the data (likely 'unknown' or 'other'). Furthermore, the comparison between the two data sets could be more integrated. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are interpreted accurately and that the overview provides a more comprehensive summary of the trends rather than just listing isolated figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The use of cohesive devices such as 'In contrast,' 'Likewise,' and 'Furthermore' helps to guide the reader through the information. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved to create a more cohesive narrative. The paragraphing is appropriate for the task, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could benefit from more varied linking words to avoid a repetitive feel.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the main points clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'remuneration,' 'freelance consultants,' and 'government sector.' However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choice, such as 'top salary getting field' instead of 'highest-paying sector' and 'most remuneration' instead of 'highest remuneration.' There is also a lack of variety in your descriptive language. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary to describe trends and data comparisons, rather than relying on basic descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'completion bachelor degree course' (missing 'a' and 'of'), 'remuneration they receiving' (incorrect verb form), and '8% students condition is not given' (missing possessive apostrophe). There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of articles and prepositions would be highly beneficial.
