Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover both the chart and the table, but the reporting of data is often inaccurate or confusing. For instance, stating that the government sector has '50% salary based on one lac dollars' is unclear and misrepresents the data. The overview is weak, as it focuses on specific percentages rather than identifying the main trends or significant comparisons. The information is presented in a fragmented way, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the overall relationship between employment types and salary brackets. To improve, focus on grouping data logically and ensuring that the figures cited are clearly linked to the correct categories.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices like 'Additionally' and 'In contrast' are used, they are sometimes applied to unrelated pieces of information, which hinders the progression of ideas. The referencing is occasionally confusing, such as the transition between the pie chart data and the table data. The structure lacks a clear, cohesive narrative that guides the reader through the data. Improving the use of linking phrases and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and sometimes inaccurate, which impacts the clarity of the report. Phrases like 'least possessed by' and 'that is greater to' are unnatural and imprecise. There is a reliance on basic descriptive language, and some terms are used incorrectly in context, such as 'one lac dollars' (which is not standard IELTS terminology) and the confusing description of salary ranges. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology for describing data, such as 'account for', 'constitute', 'the majority of', or 'a significant proportion', and ensure that numerical data is presented with standard currency formatting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('table demonstrate', '52% has highest percent') and article usage. Sentence structures are often repetitive or awkward, such as '40% of 75000 to 999999$'. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction and punctuation prevents the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms. Incorporating a wider variety of complex structures would also help improve the range score.
