The pie chart depicts the percentages of graduates of anthropology in different kinds of work segment and the table is a representation of the salary range of the graduates after five years of working.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers both the pie chart and the table, identifying key features such as the highest and lowest categories. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, simply listing figures rather than synthesizing the data effectively. For instance, the comparison between the three employment sectors in the table is presented as a list of numbers rather than a clear analytical comparison. To reach a higher band, you should group data more logically and highlight significant trends or contrasts, such as noting which sector had the highest proportion of high-earners, rather than just repeating the percentages provided in the table.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical. Phrases like 'The pie chart depicts' are used twice in quick succession, and the transition between the pie chart analysis and the table analysis is abrupt. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the sectors and the salary ranges becomes difficult to follow due to the lack of clear signposting or linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'work segment' and 'anonymous shared the remaining half'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word choice, such as '8 perfect' instead of '8 percent'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying heavily on basic descriptors. To improve, try to incorporate more varied reporting verbs and precise terminology related to data analysis, such as 'accounted for', 'constituted', or 'a significant proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and punctuation. For example, 'The money these Anthropologists earned... are as follows' should be 'is as follows'. There are also issues with capitalization, such as 'Percent' appearing mid-sentence, and inconsistent use of commas in numbers (e.g., '100, 000'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score in this criterion.
