Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover both the chart and the table, but the information is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, the description of the table data is unclear, and the summary of salaries does not accurately reflect the provided figures. The report lacks a clear overview of the main trends, instead jumping into specific, disjointed data points. The interpretation of the percentages and salary brackets is inconsistent, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the key features of the data. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant trends—such as the most common career path or the highest salary bracket—and ensure that the data reported matches the visual information provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is weak. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begins with' and 'going with table', but they are often grammatically incorrect or used in a way that feels mechanical. The progression of ideas is disjointed, and the relationship between the two parts of the prompt is not clearly established. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the comparison of data. To improve, use more natural linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, moving logically from one point to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'funding more compare to other sectors' and '1lakh dollars', which is not standard academic terminology. The word choice is repetitive, and the student struggles to use precise terms to describe data trends (e.g., 'funding' instead of 'earning' or 'receiving'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the frequent errors in collocation prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and nouns related to data analysis will significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('there are pupils with 52% which holds'), incorrect verb forms ('To begins with'), and awkward sentence structures ('full time postgraduated students are 8% compare to part time which is almost doubled of it'). The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of comparative structures.
