Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the pie chart and the table. You have identified the main features, such as the highest employment category and salary distributions across sectors. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, cohesive overview that synthesizes the data effectively. While you have reported the figures, the comparison between sectors could be more analytical rather than just listing percentages. To improve, ensure that the 'Overall' summary provides a more comprehensive snapshot of the trends rather than just repeating the labels of the charts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and occasionally awkward, such as the use of 'Additionally' and 'In general' to start paragraphs. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the transition between the pie chart data and the table data. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to track which specific data point relates to which sector at times. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but shows limited range and several inaccuracies. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'ISTITUTE', 'EARING', 'SLARY', 'GOVERMENT', 'UNEMPOYMENTED', and 'RECIEVED'. Furthermore, word choice is sometimes imprecise, such as 'highest stacks' or 'accounted people salaries'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary related to data description (e.g., 'proportion', 'distribution', 'sector') and ensure accurate spelling of common terms. The current level of errors occasionally makes the text difficult to read.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include missing articles ('the' pie chart), incorrect verb forms ('GOVERMENT SECTOR PROVID'), and awkward phrasing ('40% of total freelance consultants' earn salary'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of parentheses and commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors is noticeable and impacts the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles would be beneficial.
