Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to provide a coherent summary or report the main features of the data. Instead of writing a formal report, you have provided a list-like structure and fragmented sentences. You have attempted to list the data points, but you have not synthesized the information or made relevant comparisons as required by the task. The overview is missing, and the presentation of the salary data is disorganized and difficult to follow. To improve, you must write in full paragraphs, provide a clear overview of the main trends, and group the data logically rather than listing every single figure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks logical organization and progression. The use of bullet points and numbered lists is inappropriate for an IELTS Academic Task 1 report. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, and the text feels like a collection of disjointed notes rather than a cohesive essay. Paragraphing is not used effectively to structure the information. To improve, you should use linking words (e.g., 'whereas', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') to connect your sentences and organize your report into a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. You rely heavily on the words provided in the prompt rather than using your own language to describe the data. There are several spelling errors, such as 'percenof', 'fuelance', and 'Ounall', which hinder readability. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is no attempt to use more sophisticated or academic language to describe trends or comparisons. You should focus on learning vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'majority', 'fluctuated', and 'remained stable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammatical structure is weak and inconsistent. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper subject-verb agreement, such as 'this is gonna tell us' and '8% is of full time postgrad study'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is often misused, particularly in the list of salary data. The frequent grammatical errors make the text difficult to follow. You need to focus on writing complete, grammatically correct sentences and practice using a variety of structures, including complex sentences with subordinate clauses.
