Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the task but fails to accurately report the data. The interpretation of the table is significantly flawed; for instance, the student describes the salary data as '50% salary record' for government, which misrepresents the actual figures provided in the prompt. Furthermore, the overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the main trends. The response focuses on listing individual data points rather than synthesising information or making meaningful comparisons. To improve, you must ensure that the data reported is factually accurate based on the provided charts and focus on identifying the most significant trends rather than simply listing numbers.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is poor. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often misused, such as 'The overall, full time work employment are have a major number of work.' The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the connection between the ideas and the data. The transition between the pie chart description and the table description is abrupt. To improve, focus on using transition words like 'in contrast,' 'furthermore,' or 'consequently' to link sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and word formation, such as 'anthropologistic' instead of 'anthropologists' and 'government secort' instead of 'government sector.' The phrasing is often unnatural, such as 'major number of work.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To improve, you should practice using specific terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion,' 'percentage,' 'salary bracket,' and 'employment sector,' and ensure you check your spelling of basic academic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The piechart illustrate,' 'employment are have'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of auxiliary verbs. Proofreading for basic errors like 'their's' versus 'their' and ensuring consistent tense usage will also help raise your score.
