Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data from the charts. However, the analysis of the table is somewhat confusing. For instance, when describing the salary brackets, the phrasing '40% and 40% respectively' is unclear, and the description of the private sector data is difficult to follow due to the way the figures are listed. To improve, ensure that your comparisons are structured more logically and that you clearly link the salary ranges to the specific employment sectors to avoid ambiguity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Getting into further detail' to transition between ideas. However, the flow within the paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the final paragraph where the list of percentages becomes difficult to track. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'undergraduate degree', 'freelance consultants', and 'government sector'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'integerrated one comprising of pie chart', 'full-time worked notched the top seat', and 'earn very less'. These errors occasionally make the text feel unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding informal or non-standard expressions. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and comparative language would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
Your writing shows a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the former figure', 'the latter one'), subject-verb agreement ('full-time work top the chart'), and punctuation (the misuse of apostrophes in '5 year's work'). Additionally, there are some awkward sentence constructions that make the meaning slightly difficult to grasp, such as 'the person who who earn more than $100,000'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity and accuracy of your response.
