Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers both the pie chart and the table, identifying key features such as the dominance of full-time work and salary trends. However, the reporting of data is often confusing and inaccurate. For instance, the description of salary figures is difficult to follow, with unclear groupings and inconsistent data representation (e.g., '5% graduates salary in freelance consultants and government sector was $25000 to % 49999'). The summary lacks a clear overview that synthesizes the information effectively. While the main features are touched upon, the lack of precision in reporting the data prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inappropriate, such as the repetitive use of 'and also' and 'at last'. Paragraphing is present but does not logically separate the two distinct data sets effectively. The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the connection between the categories and the corresponding percentages. The overall structure feels fragmented rather than a cohesive report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'destination of anthropologists' (referring to employment status) and 'type of amployment'. The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe statistical data, often relying on basic phrasing. There are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'greather', 'anthroplogy', 'amployment') and punctuation issues that occasionally impede the clarity of the information provided.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are frequently marred by grammatical errors. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence fragments. For example, 'The given pie chart illustrates that the what anthropology graduates...' contains redundant words, and the salary section is riddled with punctuation errors and awkward phrasing. These errors are frequent and sometimes make the data difficult to interpret, though the general meaning remains discernible.
