Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of both the pie chart and the bar chart. However, the analysis is largely descriptive and lacks meaningful comparisons between the categories. For instance, while you mention the percentages for different sectors, you do not synthesize the data to highlight trends or significant differences effectively. The overview is missing; a summary should highlight the most striking features, such as the fact that the majority of graduates are in full-time employment or that the government sector shows the highest proportion of top-tier salaries. The response is a list of data points rather than a cohesive report.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and often repetitive (e.g., starting multiple sentences with 'The...'). There is a lack of linking words to connect ideas or show relationships between the data points. The progression of information is mechanical, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, making the flow of the text feel disjointed. To improve, use a wider variety of transition signals such as 'in contrast,' 'furthermore,' or 'consequently' to connect your observations.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on the words provided in the prompt (e.g., 'Anthropology graduates,' 'salaries,' 'pie chart'). There are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'pie give' instead of 'pie chart shows' and 'their was a change' instead of 'there was a difference.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate precision or flexibility. To reach a higher band, you should use a broader range of synonyms and more precise terminology to describe data trends, such as 'proportion,' 'majority,' 'fluctuate,' or 'account for.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'pie chat show,' 'Government sector have'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of symbols like '$' and '+'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring verbs agree with their subjects, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions in a formal context.
