IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The chart below shows what Anthropology graduates from one university did after finishing their undergraduate degree course. The table shows the salaries of the anthropologists in work after five years.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparison where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart illustrates the destinations of a university's anthropology graduates after completing their undergraduate studies while the table compares their salaries after working for 5 years.

Overall, among graduates the majority of students are in full-time job and the students doing postgraduate studies with part-time job are the lowest in number. The salary table presents that freelance consultants and government sector workers are earning considerably more than that of private companies employes.

The students holding a full-time job are 52% in numbers while part-time job holders are 15%. The proportion of unemployed is 12% whereas the statistics of those studying full-time postgraduation courses and whose destination is not known are 8% both same in number. Working part-time and studying simultaneously are 5% only.

The ones working in government sector and freelance consultants enjoy handsome salaries with 50% earning $100,000+ and 40% earning $100,000 respectively. In contrast, only 30% are earning $100,000. on the other hand, only 5% are earning below $25,000 in freelance and government sector while in private companies the 10% are earning below $25,000.
