Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers both the chart and the table, but the analysis is incomplete. You have identified some main features, such as the 52% for full-time work, but the summary of the salary table is cut off mid-sentence, meaning you failed to report the data for the other two employment categories. To improve, ensure you provide a balanced overview of all data sets provided. The overview paragraph is present, but it lacks sufficient detail to fully satisfy the requirements of a Band 6 or higher, as the data reporting is truncated and lacks a comprehensive comparison.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'Looking first at', and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. Additionally, some sentences are slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors, which makes the flow feel mechanical at times. To improve, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that cohesive devices are used to link ideas more fluidly rather than just acting as signposts.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'significant', and 'consultants'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'destination of Anthropology graduates students' (redundant) and 'government sectors employee will had' (incorrect tense and word form). The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but the lack of precision and the errors in word formation prevent a higher score. Focus on learning the correct forms of words and their typical collocations in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'thee table' (spelling), 'government sectors employee will had' (tense/subject-verb agreement), and 'showed the three type of employment' (pluralisation). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structures are often clunky. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses when describing data. Increasing your control over simple sentence structures will provide a stronger foundation before attempting more complex ones.
