Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features from both the pie chart and the table. Key data points are accurately identified, such as 52% entering full-time work and the breakdown of salaries across the three employment sectors (e.g., freelance consultants and government sector reaching 40% and 50% respectively in the highest bracket). However, there are some typographical errors in transcription within the text, such as '505 of people' instead of 50%, and '255 of people' instead of 25%. Despite these minor data transcription slips, the overall information is successfully conveyed with a clear overview.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is generally coherent and follows a logical progression, moving from an introduction to the pie chart data, then to the salary table, and finishing with an overall summary. Paragraphing is used to separate the different visual elements. However, cohesive devices are somewhat repetitive and mechanical (frequently relying on 'As well as' and 'of people have'). Referencing can also be slightly clumsy, and transitions between sentences lack variety. Nonetheless, the overall arrangement is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'proportion', 'graduate', 'employment sectors', and 'freelance consultants'. However, there are numerous word choice and spelling errors throughout, such as 'consultatnts', 'impformation', and 'declared their official data' (instead of 'did not state' or 'unknown'). Less common vocabulary is attempted with limited success, and word-formation errors recur, placing this performance at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and verb forms is inconsistent. There are frequent basic grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and auxiliary verbs (e.g., '52% of people are do full time work', '5% of students are do part-time work'). Punctuation is basic, and several sentences contain awkward phrasing. While meaning is generally clear despite these errors, the high frequency of grammatical slips prevents the score from reaching a higher band.
