Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of both the chart and the table, noting key proportions such as the 52% in full-time work and the salary distributions across employment types. However, there are some misreadings of the data; for example, the student confuses the salary brackets with the number of employees (e.g., writing '49,999 employees and 25,000 dollars salary'). Additionally, the response falls short of the 150-word minimum requirement, containing only 142 words, which negatively impacts the task achievement score.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is organized into three paragraphs, providing an overview followed by details. However, progression is somewhat hindered by confusing sentence structures and repetitive phrasing. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes mismanaged, particularly in the third paragraph where listing the salary percentages becomes mechanical and difficult to follow. Paragraphing is attempted, but the overall logical flow is weakened by dense and confusing clauses.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent awkward collocations and misunderstandings of data labels (e.g., treating salary brackets as employee counts like '99,999 employees'). Words like 'proportion', 'salaries', and 'employees' are used, but precision is lacking. Spelling is generally acceptable, but lexical control is insufficient for higher bands due to frequent inaccuracies in word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures frequently result in grammatical errors and ungrammatical phrasing, such as 'the least proportion with those who work part time and completing postgraduate study having 5%' and '5% includes 49,999 people earning 25,000 dollars'. Errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition use are frequent and occasionally impede smooth reading, though basic meaning remains understandable.
