Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features from both the chart and the table. It presents a clear overview outlining the dominant category for graduate destinations. However, the details provided for both parts are somewhat unevenly developed. While the writer successfully mentions that 52% of graduates entered full-time work and notes several salary brackets, some data points are either under-developed or presented with minor inaccuracies, such as grouping percentages loosely or missing precise connectors between data segments. To move to a higher level, the response would need to extend and fully support the comparisons across all sectors without relying on disjointed listing of figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response maintains a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to logically sequence information, starting with an introductory overview followed by body paragraphs detailing the chart and table data. However, cohesion is at times mechanical and referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the transition between the destination data and the salary table where the sentence structure breaks down abruptly. Paragraphing is present, but internal logical progression is disrupted by fragmented sentences and a lack of smooth cohesive devices. To achieve a higher standard, the writer should employ clearer referencing and more varied cohesive links to guide the reader seamlessly through the comparative data.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common items related to employment and salaries, such as 'freelance consultants', 'government sector', and 'destination'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors, such as 'illustartes' and 'anthoroplogy', along with awkward phrasing and incomplete word forms like 'employement'. These lexical errors and limitations do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the range and precision of the response. To improve, the writer needs to expand their control of academic vocabulary and ensure accurate spelling and word choice throughout.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently affected by grammatical and punctuation errors. There are issues with missing punctuation between clauses, capitalization errors at the start of sentences, and awkward prepositional usage such as 'went in to' instead of 'went into'. While these errors rarely completely impede understanding, they occur frequently enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher standard, the writer must demonstrate better control over sentence boundaries, subject-verb agreement, and accurate grammatical patterns.
