Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by summarizing both the pie chart regarding graduate destinations and the table showing salary breakdowns. The main features and some comparisons are reported, such as noting that full-time work accounted for the largest proportion at 52 percent and identifying the lowest and highest figures in the table. However, some areas are under-developed or lack clarity, particularly when attempting to describe the table data. For instance, the phrasing used to explain the salary brackets and distributions is at times confused and lacks precision, meaning certain relationships and comparisons between the sectors are not fully or clearly articulated.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the information logically. The writing is divided into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs detailing each visual. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'Regarding the table', 'Turning to the table', and 'In contrast', which help guide the reader through the data. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes mechanical or faulty, and paragraph organization could be tighter. While the lower band is fully satisfied through logical sequencing, reaching a higher band would require smoother transitions and clearer cross-referencing between the data sets without repetitive or awkward linking.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

An adequate range of vocabulary is used for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to charts and statistics, such as 'proportion', 'category', 'fluctuation', and 'sector'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('anthroplogy', 'compeleting', 'packeges', 'umemployed') and awkward word choices or collocations, such as 'full time worker' instead of 'full-time workers' and 'freelance consultant and government sector was recorded higher'. These lexical slips and inaccuracies show that control over less common vocabulary is not yet fully stable, though they do not impede overall communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at relative clauses and comparative structures. There are several grammatical errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions, such as 'part time worker who also enrolled', 'student of masters along with part time work category make up', and 'employees who's salaries are between'. Punctuation is also occasionally weak. These errors occur throughout the text, but they are mixed with error-free sentences and rarely impede the reader's understanding, fitting the descriptor where some errors in grammar persist without blocking communication.
