Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response makes an attempt to address the prompt by mentioning some figures from the charts and table, such as the 52% for full-time work and percentages related to graduate destinations and salaries. However, the information is presented in a very confused, fragmented, and inaccurate manner. Many of the reported data points do not match the visual source accurately, such as misinterpreting the salary distribution figures and mixing up employment sectors. The overview is unclear and fails to provide a competent summary of the main trends. Ideas are extremely limited and under-developed, resulting in a minimal response that only partially engages with the core requirements of Task 1.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The organisation of the text is weak and lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is haphazard, and sentences follow one another without logical sequencing or effective transitions. While basic cohesive devices such as 'firstly' and 'however' are attempted, they are used awkwardly and do not establish clear relationships between ideas. Referencing between sentences is frequently confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information. The structure relies heavily on disjointed clauses rather than a coherent presentation of statistical data.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by numerous spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'unversity', 'undergradute', 'compair', 'deamticaly', 'postared', 'shetly', and 'decresed'. There are also frequent issues with word forms, such as 'empolyment' and 'sectore'. The range of vocabulary is severely limited and inadequate for discussing statistical data accurately, forcing the reader to guess intended meanings due to frequent lexical inaccuracies that strain comprehension.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Grammatical structures are very limited, consisting mostly of disjointed fragments or faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries, such as 'people salary in government companies only 5%' and 'three type of empolyment'. Punctuation is largely absent or misused. These frequent errors occur across both simple and complex structures, often distorting the intended meaning and causing significant difficulty for the reader.
