Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, as some parts are inadequately covered or misunderstood. While the overview attempts to summarize the main trends, it contains inaccuracies and confusion regarding the data, such as stating that the government sector 'was earned a highest amount' in terms of salaries, which misinterprets the table showing salary distribution percentages. Key features are selected, but details are sometimes reported incorrectly, such as stating private companies accounted for 'least wages in' without finishing the thought, or misreading the increments in the salary table. To reach a higher level, the response needs to provide a more accurate and fully developed selection of main features without misinterpreting the underlying data points in the charts.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates some organisation with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, overview, and body details. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression and smooth linking between sentences. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or misused, such as 'Movingfurther,' and the referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in abrupt shifts between the pie chart data and the table data. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs can be repetitive and disjointed. To improve, the writer should ensure that ideas flow logically from one sentence to the next using accurate, natural cohesive ties and clearer signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Phrases such as 'minor people' instead of a small minority, 'not know' instead of 'not known', and 'dominant souce of income' instead of employment sector indicate a restricted lexical range. There are also awkward word formations like 'postgrudate' and clumsy phrasing such as 'least wages in'. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range and use less common lexical items more accurately and naturally, paying closer attention to proper word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response exhibits a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences and basic descriptive patterns, while attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'Anthropology graduates ... did after', missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and awkward passive constructions such as 'were highly choosen by students which recorded at 52%' and 'which was rise 5% to 40%'. Punctuation errors also appear, such as unnecessary spaces before punctuation marks. To progress, the writer needs to increase sentence variety and maintain greater accuracy across basic and complex structures.
