Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at only 90 words. Furthermore, it completely omits the entire second half of the visual data prompt, which is the table showing the salaries of the anthropologists in work after five years. While the student attempts to summarise the pie chart regarding graduate destinations, the coverage is very restricted and superficial. Ideas are limited and under-developed, and important features from the chart are missed. This partial response to the task keeps the evaluation at a low level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The text shows some basic organisation by attempting to separate the introduction and body details into short paragraphs. However, there is no clear overall progression across the piece due to its extreme brevity. Cohesive devices are largely absent, and referencing is weak, such as using 'Among them' and '15% student does not continue' with incorrect pluralisation and ambiguous links. Paragraphing is disjointed, featuring very short, choppy sentences that do not flow logically together to guide the reader through a well-structured summary.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for basic communication, featuring common terms like 'career progression', 'salary statistics', and 'full-time jobs'. However, there are noticeable word form and pluralisation errors throughout the text, such as '13% student stay' instead of 'students stay' and '5% student work'. Additionally, the range of vocabulary is quite limited, lacking less common lexical items or precise paraphrasing of the prompt, which restricts the quality of the lexical output.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple statements with frequent errors in basic grammatical agreement. Examples of errors include subject-verb discord such as '15% student does not continue' and '12% student fail'. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, and where attempts are made, they are simplistic. Frequent errors in plurals and verb forms cause some difficulty and distraction for the reader.
