Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While the writer attempts to present information from both the pie chart and the table, the selection of data lacks clarity and precision. The overview is weak, containing vague statements such as 'the highest part surrounded by Full-time work' rather than synthesising the main trends. Furthermore, some reported data points are inaccurate or poorly expressed, such as claiming that 'the lowest part was Private companies' when referring to salaries, or misinterpreting the table categories as employment types rather than salary brackets. Ideas are limited and under-developed, and key comparisons between the sectors and salary levels are largely missed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response shows some organisation with paragraphs attempting to separate the two charts, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'To commence', 'On account of', and 'Following theis', which interrupt the natural flow of reading. Referencing is also faulty in places, creating confusion about which data set is being discussed. While paragraphing is present, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is repetitive and mechanical, making the relationships between sentences difficult to follow at times.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical resource is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'consultants' and 'government sector', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and form, such as 'Denstination', 'Denstination', 'rose dramatically for the 52%', and 'Not know'. There are also numerous spelling and typographical slips, including 'approcimately', 'yeaer', and 'Furtheremore'. These lexical inadequacies cause some difficulty for the reader and occasionally impede clear communication of the visual data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response employs a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or awkwardly fused clauses. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to ungrammatical constructions such as 'While the table compare the salaries' and 'which divided into six different categories on it'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries—for instance, incomplete dependent clauses standing alone as sentences. These errors persist throughout the text and cause frequent difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar firmly at this level.
