Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main features of both the pie chart and the table, but the selection and reporting of data are partially incomplete and contain inaccuracies. While an overview is attempted, it contains some confusing phrasing, such as 'full-time arthropologists recorded the highest proportion'. Furthermore, some data points are misreported or misinterpreted, for instance stating that freelance consultants earned 'about 40% money' instead of reporting the proportion of consultants falling into the $75,000–$99,999 and $100,000+ salary brackets. The reporting lacks full clarity regarding comparisons across categories, meaning some parts of the visual data are under-developed or inaccurately described.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a clear overall arrangement with a logical division into introductory, overview, and body paragraphs. There is an attempt to sequence information logically, moving from graduate destinations to salary breakdowns. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Additionally', and 'In terms of' are used to structure the text, though some referencing and transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct parts of the prompt, allowing the reader to follow the general flow of information easily, fulfilling the requirements for a solid middle band.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The lexical range used is adequate for the task, successfully incorporating topic-related vocabulary like 'proportion', 'unemployed', 'freelance consultants', and 'government sector'. However, there are noticeable limitations and recurring vocabulary errors. Most notably, the writer repeatedly uses the incorrect term 'arthropologists' instead of 'anthropologists', and misspells 'government' as 'govermnent'. Other expressions, such as earned 'about 40% money', lack precision and indicate a restricted ability to handle less common lexical items accurately, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure. Sentences such as 'The majority of anthropology graduates worked full-time, accounting for 52%, followed by part-time workers...' are structured reasonably well. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation—for instance, subject-verb agreement issues like 'graduates who worked part-time... constitutes' and minor prepositional awkwardness—but these errors rarely impede overall communication, allowing the reader to grasp the core meaning without significant difficulty.
