Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting on both the pie chart and the table, satisfying the requirement to select and report main features and make comparisons. An overview is attempted, noting that full-time work was the most common destination and highlighting earnings in the government sector. However, the development of ideas is uneven. Some data points are under-developed or missing deeper analytical comparison, and there are occasional inaccuracies in reporting figures, such as stating 'the goverment sector was more earn than others' rather than accurately detailing the salary brackets across all three employment types. To move to a higher band, the response would need a more fully extended and precise overview and more thorough, accurate comparison of the data across both visuals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the information into an introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs for the chart and the table. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, with awkward transitional phrases such as 'Regarding to,' and 'To turning the salaries table'. Referencing and logical progression between sentences occasionally become unclear, making the flow bumpy. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within the paragraphs needs smoother management. To achieve a higher score, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that transitional links are grammatically correct and appropriate for academic writing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but the range is limited. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'destination', 'consultants', and 'sector', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and word form, such as 'Anthroplogy', 'goverment', 'coast' instead of cost, 'compnies', and 'frelance'. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the response to this level. To improve, the writer needs to expand their range of functional academic vocabulary, practice accurate spelling of key terms related to data reporting, and pay closer attention to word formation and collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures often contain noticeable errors. There are frequent mistakes in article usage, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, and clause structures, such as 'what Anthropology graduates from one university did... and the table describe', 'the portion of the students their destination was', and 'private compnies earn 355'. While these errors are present, the meaning is generally still conveyed, placing the grammar at this level. To reach a higher band, the writer must increase the proportion of error-free sentences, improve control over relative clauses and prepositions, and refine punctuation and verb agreement.
