Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting an overview and reporting key features from both the pie chart and the table. It successfully selects and compares main data points, such as noting that full-time workers represent the largest proportion of graduates while part-time workers with postgraduate study make up the smallest. However, some areas are slightly under-developed or less precise, for instance when describing the breakdown of salaries. The overview accurately captures the main trends across the two visual aids, satisfying the requirements for a solid mid-level performance, though deeper comparison between the different employment sectors would elevate the task response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the information logically into an introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs for the charts. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different parts of the visual data. Cohesive devices are employed, though referencing is occasionally mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'while' and 'the table comprises'. While logical progression is generally maintained throughout, these minor issues with cohesion prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items and specific terms like 'proportion', 'alumni', and 'freelance consultants'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as 'employer' instead of 'employees' or 'workers', 'unknown of doing any work' instead of 'unknown status' or 'destination not known', and the informal Indian English expression 'lakh dollars'. Spelling and word-form errors are present, but they do not severely impede communication, sitting comfortably within the mid-range descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structures. However, there are persistent grammatical errors and inappropriate prepositions, such as 'at the movement' instead of 'at the moment', 'thier' (spelling/grammar overlap), and minor subject-verb agreement issues like 'worker are in the biggest proprtion'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical slips occur across various sentence patterns. These errors do not impede overall communication, reflecting a typical performance for this grammar band.
