Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the main parts of the task by summarizing both the pie chart and the table, but the treatment of the visual data is uneven. While you successfully identify the most popular destination for graduates as full-time work at 52% and note some general comparisons in the salary table, certain details are under-developed or inaccurately reported. For example, your description of the salary data contains generalizations about government sectors and private companies that do not fully align with the specific figures provided in the table, such as the high percentage of higher-earning tiers. To reach a higher level, you need to ensure that key features are selected more accurately and supported with precise data points from the graphics.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement and is divided into logical paragraphs covering the introduction, overview, chart details, and table details. However, the progression between ideas is sometimes mechanical due to repetitive transitional devices like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly'. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in sentences where pronouns or descriptors are unclear, making the flow of information slightly halting. To improve, you should aim for smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs and ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and accurately to guide the reader through the data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task, but it contains a noticeable number of spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Throughout the text, there are multiple typos and misspellings, such as 'illustartes', 'sallaeries', 'antrhropology', 'undergrdauate', and 'governmnet'. Additionally, basic lexical items are repeated frequently, and attempts at less common vocabulary lead to awkward phrasing. To achieve a higher score, you need to broaden your range of academic vocabulary, demonstrate better control over word formation, and carefully check your spelling before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or basic complex sentences. When you attempt more complex forms, they are often faulty, featuring frequent errors in grammar, articles, and prepositions. Examples include phrasing like 'after completing their studies from a university', 'Most proportion of students was seen', and 'such students have proportion of 8%'. Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences like 'on other hand'. To improve, you need to increase your control over grammatical structures and reduce the frequency of basic errors.
