Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially. While the student attempts to cover both the chart and the table, the information is presented with notable inaccuracies and confusion regarding the data. For instance, the discussion of the table's salary brackets lacks clarity and misinterprets the percentages, stating that the private sector pays 'below 75000 usd 45% amongst other categories 20%'. The overview provided at the beginning is very brief and fails to clearly highlight the broader trends across both sets of data. Furthermore, some ideas are repetitive and under-developed, meaning key features of the visual data, such as the highest salary brackets in the government and freelance sectors, are not accurately or fully reported. To move up, the writer needs to ensure data is read correctly and report the main trends with greater precision and clarity.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response shows some organization with paragraphs attempting to separate different aspects of the visual data, but there is no clear overall progression. The relationship between sentences and ideas is sometimes awkward, and cohesive devices are used inadequately or mechanically (for example, starting multiple sentences with 'There are' or relying on basic transitions like 'Moreover' and 'After graduating'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structuring of paragraphs lacks logical flow, making it occasionally difficult to follow the progression of the points. To improve Coherence and Cohesion, the writer should employ a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices and ensure that each paragraph builds logically on the previous one to guide the reader smoothly through the comparison of data.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'proportion', 'graduates', and 'consultants', but these are accompanied by noticeable word choice, word form, and spelling errors, such as 'demonstrate' instead of 'demonstrates', 'undergraudate' implied as 'an undergraduate', 'gradute' instead of 'graduate', and 'goverment' instead of 'government'. Furthermore, awkward phrasing such as 'Unemployed owns the third largest share' and 'pay scale almost remain same' restricts precision and causes some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire and use vocabulary with greater accuracy regarding collocations and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few clumsy attempts at complex forms. Frequent errors are present throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The chart demonstrate', 'pay scale almost remain same'), missing or incorrect articles ('the student their destination', 'a undergraduate degree', 'in private sector'), and incorrect prepositions ('after graduating in a undergraduate degree', 'salaries in the range below'). These errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and impede fluent comprehension. To improve in this area, the writer needs to work on foundational grammatical accuracy, particularly verb-subject agreement, article usage, and constructing error-free complex sentences.
