Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two visuals and report some relevant figures, including the 52% in full-time work and the 15% in part-time work. However, the response only partly covers the task: the salary table is discussed mainly through selected figures for government, freelance and private-sector workers, with several important comparisons omitted. The overview also misreads the destination chart: 5% were combining part-time work with postgraduate study, not simply doing part-time jobs, and the 8% studying full-time plus 8% whose destination was unknown are not accurately described as people “doing nothing.” The salary overview is also incomplete, since government employees had the largest $100,000+ share, while private-company employees were most concentrated in the $50,000–74,999 band. Select the main patterns accurately and compare both visuals more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: an opening sentence introduces both visuals, the next paragraph describes graduate destinations, and the final paragraph turns to salaries. This gives the reader a basic progression, and phrases such as “Overall” and “On the other hand” signal shifts between ideas. However, the organisation within the paragraphs is not always clear. The destination overview moves from full-time work to a mislabelled 5% group, then back to part-time work, making the comparisons harder to follow. The final paragraph lists salary details without a clear comparison across income bands. Improve cohesion by grouping related figures and using precise references, such as “the remaining destinations” or “by contrast,” only where the relationship is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary suited to describing charts, including “proportion,” “depicts,” “accounted,” “share,” and “generated.” This shows an effort to avoid repeating basic terms. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes obscure the intended meaning: “freshly graduates,” “input of only 5%,” “second major part of work was comprised by,” and “doing nothing” do not describe the data precisely. There are also noticeable spelling and form errors, including “indivisuals,” “whilke,” and “355” where 35% is intended. Use straightforward, accurate chart language such as “graduates,” “accounted for,” “the next largest group,” and “earned,” and check spelling and percentage notation carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and some more developed structures, including the opening sentence with “after completing their degree” and the contrast introduced by “whereas.” However, attempts at longer sentences are often faulty, and errors can make relationships between figures difficult to understand. For example, “more than half portion of jobs are accounted with indivisuals” has problems with sentence construction and preposition use, while “second major part of work was comprised by those” is awkwardly formed. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, as in “that, more” and “50%while,” and sentence beginnings such as “second” and “in” are not capitalised. Practise accurate subject–verb patterns and shorter comparisons before adding complex clauses.
