Student answer (Band 6.0)

The presented pie chart illustrates information regarding the destinations of Anthropology graduates from one university, while tabular chart represents their salary packages after five years' of work.

Overall, it can be observed that majority of students did full-time work, whereas the least proportion of graduates preferred part-time work as well as postgrad study. Conversly, government sector hold maximum amount of salary after five years.

Turning to the details, it is evident that Anthropology graduates from one university did full-time work that accounted for more than half proportion, however the share of students doing part-time work decreased significantly (15%). Anthropology students who became unemployed were 12% only. Intresentingly, it is noticeable that graduates who did not do anything and did full-time postgrad study witnessed at similar share that was less than one tenth. In contrast, the least percentage of students did part-time work and postgrad study.

The percentage of private companies was 10 who were getting salaries between 25000 dollars and 49999 dollars, but it increased steadily from 10% to 30%. Although th share of salaries for both freelance consultants and government employees were the least initially, it increased graually upto $ [redacted phone] after five years.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main destination, full-time work (52%), and note that part-time work combined with postgraduate study is the smallest category (5%). You also include several relevant salary figures. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not summarise the salary distribution clearly, and the claim that government employees had the “maximum amount of salary” is imprecise. The salary paragraph misrepresents the table: freelance and government employees did not have similar shares across the $25,000–$74,999 bands, and the figures do not show salaries increasing over time. Instead, they show the proportions in each salary band after five years. Some destination details are also unclear, such as “did not do anything.” Select the key comparisons and report them accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the destination chart and salary table. Sequencing phrases such as “Turning to the details” and “Moving further” help signal the shift between sections, and the reader can generally follow the intended comparisons. This is a solid organisational foundation. However, some links are mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately: “however” joins contrasting information awkwardly, while “Although” introduces a sentence whose connection to the preceding point is unclear. The salary paragraph also moves between categories and bands without a consistent order, making comparisons harder to follow. Grouping figures by employment type or salary range and using clearer references would make progression more controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “destinations,” “accounted for,” “share,” and “salary packages,” and you attempt more formal reporting language. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes obscure the data. “Maximum amount of salary” does not clearly describe the largest proportion in a salary band, while “did not do anything” is an unsuitable description of graduates whose destination was not known. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Conversly,” “Intresentingly,” and “graually,” and awkward phrases such as “similar percentage of salaries.” Aim for precise terms such as “proportion,” “salary band,” and “destination was unknown,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while,” “whereas,” and “Although,” and most of the response remains understandable. However, complex constructions are not consistently controlled. For example, “the table represents” needs an article (“the table”), and “government sector hold” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “graduates who did not do anything and did full-time postgrad study witnessed at similar share,” the clause structure and verb pattern make the meaning difficult to interpret. The sentence beginning “Although the share…” is also incomplete in its logical construction. Review agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, and simplify sentences when a longer structure makes the comparison unclear.
