Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You report several accurate figures from the pie chart, including full-time work at 52%, full-time postgraduate study at 8%, unemployment at 12%, and the smallest category at 5%. However, the response does not summarise the table: it stops just as you introduce it, so the salary patterns and comparisons across employment types are entirely missing. The overview is also limited to saying that most graduates are employed, without identifying the key salary feature, such as the high proportions earning $100,000 or more in government and freelance work. The response is 132 words, below the required 150. To improve, complete both parts of the task and select the most important comparisons rather than listing mainly pie-chart figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic overall sequence: it introduces the pie chart, gives a brief overview, and then begins to refer to the table. Phrases such as “Overall” and “Conversely” show an attempt to guide the reader through the information. However, the progression is incomplete because the table discussion ends mid-sentence, leaving the second half of the task undeveloped. Within the chart paragraph, several figures are listed one after another, with limited grouping or comparison, and the link between the overview and supporting details could be clearer. Organise the response into a complete introduction, an overview of the main features, and separate detail paragraphs for the chart and table, using comparisons to connect related figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “graduates,” “employed,” and “salaries,” and the meaning of most chart details is understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “continued their journey of life,” but this is unnatural for an IELTS data summary and does not add precision. Several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “hightest,” “postgard,” and “Anthropologist” where “anthropologists” is needed. “Perform full-time work” is also an awkward collocation. Aim for concise, conventional language for describing data, such as “worked full time,” “accounted for,” and “salary band,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more developed sentences, and the main figures can generally be understood. However, there are recurring problems with sentence boundaries and subject–verb agreement. The opening separates two closely connected clauses with a full stop before “And the table,” while “the graduates who perform full-time work contributes” mismatches a plural subject with a singular verb. Similarly, “those who are unemployed and not known has percentage” has faulty agreement and an incomplete grammatical construction. The final sentence, “Looking a head to the table which describes the salaries of,” is unfinished. Use complete sentences, check that verbs agree with their subjects, and proofread punctuation and sentence endings.
