Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both the graduates’ destinations and the salary table, and your overview identifies full-time work as the largest destination and government employment as the strongest high-salary category. Several comparisons are accurate: 80% of freelance consultants earned at least $75,000, and half of government employees earned $100,000 or more. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate. The overview calls full-time postgraduate study the least common destination, although part-time work combined with postgraduate study is lower at 5%. The claim that private-company employees earning $50,000–$74,999 “contributed the most in all earning categories” is confusing: this is the largest group only within that employment type. Clarify comparisons and select the main features more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the pie chart and salary table. This makes the two sources easy to distinguish, and phrases such as “Looking at the pie chart” and “Considering the table” guide the reader through the report. The comparisons are generally placed in a sensible order, and the response shows a clear progression. To make the organisation more effective, ensure each comparison has an unmistakable reference point. For example, the final sentence about government employees and private-company salaries is difficult to follow because it compares different salary bands without explaining the relationship. More precise linking and referencing would make the cohesion less dependent on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “graduates,” “postgraduate study,” “unemployed,” “freelance consultants,” and “earned,” so the topic is generally clear. There is also some attempt at varied reporting language, such as “opted for” and “secured jobs.” However, spelling errors are frequent and noticeable, including “Anthroplogy,” “paet-time,” “consultands,” and “govermet.” Some word choices and collocations are also imprecise: “table chart” is unnecessary, “students” is less accurate than “graduates” in this context, and “contributed the most” does not clearly describe a salary proportion. Aim for accurate spelling and straightforward, natural phrases for describing percentages and income bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview sentence beginning “Overall” and comparisons using “which” and “while”-type relationships. Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but some grammatical choices reduce clarity. For example, “the least number of students continued their postgraduate study” has an unclear comparison, while “more than 10folds the graduates” does not form a correct comparative structure. The sentence about private-company employees also lacks a clear grammatical relationship between its clauses. Articles, plural forms, and sentence construction need more consistent control. Practise concise patterns such as “52% worked full-time, compared with 5% who combined part-time work with postgraduate study.”
