Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main destination category correctly: full-time work accounts for 52%, and you report the smaller categories, including 5% for part-time work combined with postgraduate study. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate. The table is not adequately summarised: you describe freelance salaries but omit the government and private-company distributions, and the claim that government employees received the highest salaries is not supported as a clear comparison with freelance consultants, whose top salary band is also 40%. The statement that the smallest salary amounts were taken by freelance consultants and government workers is also misleading, since private companies have the largest share in the lowest band. Select key contrasts across all employment types and report them accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for the chart and table. This helps the reader distinguish the two sources of information. However, progression is limited because the table discussion stops after one employment type, leaving the comparison unfinished. Some linking is also awkward or unclear: “In addation” introduces an overview point that is difficult to interpret, while the figures in “followed by part time work 15% 12% portion captured by unemployed” are crowded together without clear connections. Use complete comparison sentences and organise the table paragraph by salary bands or employment sectors. This would make relationships between figures easier to follow and reduce the impression of a list.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “maximum,” “unemployed,” and “salaries,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “the huge salary,” “small amount of salaries,” and “earned the amount.” There are also frequent spelling errors, including “distination,” “univeristy,” “addation,” and “folllowed,” which reduce accuracy and polish. Aim for precise reporting language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a category as having the “largest share” and say that a percentage “earned between” two salary levels, rather than using vague phrases such as “got the amount.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the opening sentence communicates the purpose of the chart and table. However, sentence structures are often faulty or incomplete, and errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to understand. For instance, “the least proportion taken by part time work and postgrad study” lacks a clear verb, while “40% each Freelance consultants employ earned the amount” has an unclear subject and verb pattern. Articles and prepositions are also inconsistent, as in “after five years work.” Use straightforward, complete clauses with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and punctuation. A wider range of structures will be more effective once these basic sentence patterns are controlled.
