Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both visuals and identify the main destination, full-time work, at 52%, as well as the comparatively high government-sector salary share of 50% at $100,000 or more. The salary paragraph also selects useful comparisons, including the two 40% groups among freelance consultants and the largest private-company salary band. This meets the task well, though some details are incomplete or imprecise: the overview calls the destinations “five” despite six categories, and says part-time work and postgraduate study are the lowest, overlooking that full-time postgraduate study is 8% while the combined part-time/postgraduate category is lowest at 5%. The table overview also labels 30% as the lowest salary figure, when the lowest band reaches 5% in two sectors. More precise coverage of these features would strengthen the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on the pie chart and a final paragraph on salaries. This makes the two visuals easy to distinguish, and transitions such as “According to the pie chart” and “Looking at the table” help guide the reader. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, “full time work has highest and part time work, postgrad study lowest” compresses several categories without clearly distinguishing them, while “which gap between 3%” does not form a clear relationship with the preceding figures. Use more precise comparisons and connect related figures in complete, logically ordered sentences. The paragraphing is appropriate, but clearer referencing and less awkward linking would make progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “destination,” “freelance consultants,” “government sector,” and salary-band expressions such as “$75,000 and $99,999.” This gives you enough language to report the main categories and figures. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “graduates … who end from” and “table gives the information about income” are unnatural, while “got 52%” is not an appropriate way to describe a chart category. There are also spelling errors, including “unemployement,” and imprecise phrases such as “lowest from other.” Aim for standard reporting language and check spelling carefully. A broader set of accurate verbs and comparison phrases would make the account clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons introduced by “while” and “whereas,” and the final paragraph communicates several salary figures successfully. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “The pie chart display” has subject–verb disagreement, while “table gives” and “it have three types” show problems with articles and agreement. The sentence beginning “Overall, pie chart consists five destination” also has missing grammatical elements and unclear sentence structure. Some long sentences join several points without clear punctuation, as in the paragraph reporting the destination percentages. Practise accurate articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries, then build complexity around a reliable grammatical base.
