Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main destination correctly: full-time work was the largest category at 52%, and you note that government employees had the strongest representation in the top salary band. However, the report is incomplete: it omits the 5% who combined part-time work with postgraduate study and gives no salary figures or comparisons across the three employment types. The claim that government offered the highest salaries is too broad; the table shows 50% of government workers earned $100,000+, compared with 40% of freelance consultants, while private companies had 30%. The response also falls 12 words short of the required minimum, limiting its coverage. Include the missing destination and compare the salary distributions more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt at a basic report structure, with an introduction, an overview and a paragraph about graduate destinations. The overview also signals a comparison between government and other employment sectors. However, the opening fragments (“1st” and “2nd”) and the separate note before the report interrupt the flow and do not function as useful paragraphs. The final paragraph stops after listing some destinations, with no transition to the salary table, so the response lacks a complete progression through both visuals. Some linking is attempted with “Overall” and “While,” but the latter introduces an incomplete contrast. Organise the response into a clear introduction, overview and two developed detail paragraphs, using links to connect related comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “undergraduate studies,” “unemployed,” “postgrad study” and “salary,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning awkward: “The Pi chart” should be “pie chart,” “complition” should be “completion,” and “salary proivde” is unclear. Phrases such as “a largest proportion” and “in comparison of” are also not natural collocations. The range is limited, with repeated use of “work,” “salary” and “after.” Build a more accurate set of terms for describing proportions and salary bands, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and a longer sentence beginning “The pie chart and the table shows…,” but control is inconsistent. In that sentence, the compound subject requires “show,” not “shows.” The phrase “Government sector offers … to a largest proportion” has article and sentence-pattern problems, while “in comparison of” is not a correctly formed comparison structure. The sentence beginning “While 15% pursued part-time work” is left without a main clause, and the final list lacks punctuation to show how its items relate. These errors make parts of the report difficult to follow. Practise complete sentences, subject–verb agreement and accurate comparison structures, then proofread punctuation and articles.
