Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the main subject and report several figures from the destination chart, including full-time work at 52%, part-time work at 15%, and part-time work with postgraduate study at 5%. However, the response does not adequately summarise both visuals: the salary table is essentially omitted, and the claim that full-time work had the highest salary is not supported by the data. Some comparisons are also inaccurate; for example, full-time postgraduate study and “not known” are not equal, since they are 8% and 8%—this comparison is correct, but the response does not clearly distinguish the categories. The overview is unclear and repeats claims rather than selecting the key features. Include the salary distributions and state the main contrasts across employment types.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an opening, a description of the chart, and a concluding paragraph. Basic linking words such as “then” and “in the conclusion” also show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the opening repeats itself and the middle paragraph moves between categories without a clear structure. For instance, the sentence beginning “The lowest graduate…” combines several destinations and comparisons, while the salary reference is inserted without explaining the table. Use separate paragraphs for an overview, the destination figures, and salary comparisons, and group related information logically. More precise referencing would also help readers understand which chart or category each statement concerns.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “full time work,” “part time work,” and “salary,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which makes several statements hard to interpret. Phrases such as “highly rised,” “the lowest graduate,” and “the highest salary from university” do not express the intended comparisons naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “Desination,” and repeated use of “higher” where a more precise comparison is needed. Build a small set of accurate chart-description expressions, such as “accounted for,” “was the largest share,” and “earned,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, and some basic meaning can be recovered from clauses such as “the percentage was about 12%.” However, sentence structures are frequently incomplete or incorrectly formed. The opening, “The pie chart illustrate that…,” has subject–verb disagreement and continues as an unclear sentence fragment; “In the pie chart shows…” also lacks a grammatical subject. Tense and agreement are inconsistent, as in “was 52% its highly rised,” and articles and sentence boundaries are often missing or misplaced. Practise writing one complete sentence for each comparison, using a clear subject and verb—for example, “Full-time work accounted for 52% of graduates”—before attempting longer structures.
