Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response identifies the broad subject and includes an overview, noting that full-time work was the main destination and that the smallest group combined part-time work with postgraduate study. However, a key figure is misreported: 52% entered full-time work, not part-time work, so the statement that “most of student work part-time” distorts the chart. The salary discussion is also incomplete: it gives some figures for freelance consultants and government employees but omits the private-company salary distribution and most middle-band comparisons. The claim that freelance consultants receive the highest wages is not fully supported, since government employees have the largest share in the top salary band. More accurate selection and comparison of the main data are needed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for graduate destinations and salaries. This gives the reader some organisation, and transitions such as “Overall,” “However” and “Furthermore” signal relationships between points. However, progression is weakened by the inaccurate destination figure and by the salary paragraph ending after only two employment types, without a clear comparison across all three. Some linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, particularly “In the terms of salaries,” and the overview’s reference to the “least” proportion is not clearly connected to the relevant category. Grouping related figures and using clearer comparisons would make the information easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “full-time,” “postgrad study,” “unemployed,” “freelance consultants” and “government sector.” These terms allow the reader to recognise the main categories. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “in the filed of Anthropology,” “what kind of occupation they do,” and “get higher wages.” Repetition of “people,” “student” and “percentage” also restricts precision. Spelling and form errors, including “filed” and “undergraduates degree,” are noticeable. Aim for concise chart language such as “graduates entered employment,” “accounted for,” and “earned,” while checking spelling and using the chart’s category labels accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to use both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning “while” and “who,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors occur frequently in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “after completing their undergraduates degree course … what kind of occupation they do” is an awkward, incomplete construction, while “most of student work” and “that proportion around 52%” lack correct plural or verb forms. Articles and possessives are also inconsistent in “the student” and “the anthropologist in work.” Some sentences join ideas without a clear grammatical relationship. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add subordinate clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, articles and complete verb phrases.
