Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the two visuals and report the leading destination accurately: full-time work accounts for 52%, followed by part-time work at 15%. However, the response does not provide a clear overview of the main patterns, and several figures are missing or misreported. For example, you say full-time postgraduate study and “not know” are the same, but they are 8% each; you then give part-time work as 8%, although it is 15%. The salary table is especially incomplete: “freelance consultant is 5% then 40%” does not identify the salary bands, and the government and private-company figures are confused or omitted. The response is also 11 words below the required minimum. To improve, summarise the main contrasts and accurately compare salary distributions across all three employment types.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the chart and table, discusses graduate destinations, and then turns to employment categories. This gives the reader some sense of the task’s two parts. However, the paragraphs do not develop a clear progression, and the links between ideas are often unclear. Phrases such as “And the other categrious” and “while private compaines” do not explain how the figures relate to one another. The repeated use of “And” and “So” also makes the organisation feel mechanical. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for destinations and salaries, and connect comparisons explicitly—for example, contrast the largest destination with the smaller categories, then compare the highest salary bands across sectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time work,” “part time work,” “postgrad study,” “unemployed,” and “salaries.” These terms show an attempt to describe the chart rather than relying entirely on general language. However, the range is limited, and frequent spelling errors make several words difficult to recognise, such as “illustreat,” “anthropolists,” “categrious,” and “cosultant.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, including “very high in ratio,” “little bit as compre,” and “in the start.” Build a more accurate set of comparison phrases, such as “accounted for,” “was followed by,” and “the proportion earning,” and check spelling carefully. This would make the descriptions clearer and more appropriate for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and some longer constructions, and the reader can generally identify the topic of each sentence. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and sentence boundaries and agreement are frequent problems. For instance, “The chart illustreat … did after complet” lacks a correctly formed clause, while “The table give us information” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. Several sentences are fragments, including “Like full time work, or part time work and work + study and unemployed.” Punctuation is also weak: the opening sentences run together, and commas are often attached directly to figures without spaces. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use accurate past-tense reporting structures such as “The chart shows what graduates did” and “The table presents their salaries.”
