Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given pie chart illustrates the destinations of anthropology graduates from a particular university after completing their undergraduate degrees, while the table presents the salaries earned by anthropologists after five years of employment.
Overall, the most notable feature is that full time work is most common among graduates whereas part time work along with postgrad study was least common. moreover, the table provides the information about three different types of employment,i.e., Freelance consultants, Government sector and Private comapnies and their respective salaries after working for 5 years.
Regarding the highest figures, full-time work recorded for more than half of the total graduates whereas about 15% of students opted for part-time work. Moreover, 12% of graduates are unemployed followed by 5% students who manages both part-time work and postgrad study. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both the graduate destinations and the five-year salary table, and your overview correctly identifies full-time work as the largest destination and the combination of part-time work and postgraduate study as the smallest. Several figures are also reported accurately, including 52% in full-time work and 15% in part-time work. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: you say the 8% figures are “similar” without clearly identifying both categories, and “5% students” refers to the 5% salary band in the table, not students. The salary discussion omits the 15% and 40% bands for freelance consultants and the 15% and 30% bands for government employment. Report the table’s main contrasts more fully and precisely, especially the high-income shares across all three sectors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on destinations, and a final paragraph on salaries. This gives the reader a sensible route through both visuals, and linking expressions such as “Regarding” and “Furthermore” help signal shifts. The overview also provides a useful organising point. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear: “These are further followed by 5% students” does not make clear which salary category or employment type is being discussed, while “the rest distributed between the other two salary figures” leaves the figures unspecified. The final paragraph also moves between sectors without consistently comparing them. Use clearer references and organise the salary details by income band or sector to make progression more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “destinations,” “graduates,” “unemployed,” “salary,” and “percentage,” and terms such as “full-time postgrad study” help identify chart categories. However, word choice and spelling are uneven, which limits precision. “One lack dollars” is not the appropriate expression for the $100,000+ band, and “moderate income” is vague when describing the $50,000–74,999 category. There are also misspellings such as “comapnies,” “employeers,” and “consultnats,” alongside awkward phrases such as “highest and lowest salary as government sector employeers and freelance consultnats.” Use accurate salary terminology, check spelling carefully, and prefer concise chart language such as “the highest income band” and “the proportion earning.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening with “while” and clauses introduced by “whereas” and “followed by.” Most of the intended meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless reduce accuracy: “Similar percentage of students opted” needs an article, and “the rest distributed” is missing a verb. In “Turning to the private companies, experiences the highest percentage,” the sentence lacks a clear subject and has faulty verb structure. Tense and agreement also shift in “12% of graduates are unemployed” and “5% students who manages.” Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and complete sentence structure, particularly when describing percentages. More consistently controlled complex sentences would make the comparisons easier to follow.
