Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You report the main destination figures accurately, including the largest group in full-time work (52%) and the proportions unemployed and not known. You also identify the highest salary band as most common in government employment. However, the salary table is only partly covered: the other salary bands are omitted, and the comparison between sectors is limited to the $100,000+ figures. The overview is also not clearly stated; the opening describes what the visuals show rather than summarising their main patterns. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the key contrasts, then compare the salary distributions across all three employment types using selected figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: it first discusses graduate destinations and then turns to salaries, so readers can distinguish the two visuals. Linking expressions such as “Similarly,” “while,” and “followed by” also help connect some information. However, the progression within each section is limited, and the salary paragraph ends after one comparison rather than developing a fuller account. Some transitions are awkward, and the opening repeats the purpose of the visuals instead of guiding the reader towards an overview. Use a clear introduction, a separate overview, and logically grouped detail paragraphs; connect comparisons explicitly, for example by contrasting the government and private-sector salary distributions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “undergraduate degree,” “postgraduate,” “unemployed,” “salary ranges,” and “government sector.” This gives the response a minimally adequate range for describing the visuals. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “income of different type of employment,” “salary … is withdrawn,” and “the ratio of unemployed graduates.” Spelling errors, including “statisticts,” “thier,” and “reperesents,” are also noticeable and reduce the clarity and polish of the report. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling carefully; terms such as “salary distribution,” “earned,” and “proportion” would fit this task more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can generally understand the figures being reported. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic patterns. For example, “Pie chart illustrate” lacks subject–verb agreement and an article, while “different proportion of students is represented” has problems with number agreement and sentence construction. The opening fragment beginning “While the table…” is not a complete sentence, and “after working for 5 years in different sectors” is awkwardly attached to the salary statement. Practise accurate article use, plural agreement, and complete sentence formation before adding more complex structures.
