Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify several correct figures, including full-time work at 52%, part-time work at 15%, and unemployment at 12%. However, the response does not provide a clear overview of the main patterns, and the table discussion is incomplete: it stops after “40% get salaries from” without identifying the salary band or reporting the remaining comparisons. The statement that full-time postgraduate study and “unknown students” were similar is accurate at 8%, but the categories should be named precisely. The response is also 14 words below the required minimum. To make the summary more complete, finish the table description, compare the highest salary bands across sectors, and state the main contrast between the two visuals.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence: it first describes graduate destinations and then turns to salaries, which gives the reader some sense of organisation. Paragraphing also separates the two visuals. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and the final sentence is cut off, leaving the table section without a conclusion. Linking words such as “while” and “In addition” help connect details, but “while” is repeated and sometimes joins information without making the comparison clear. Use a concise overview before the details, then group related figures and complete each comparison. This would make the organisation more purposeful and reduce the impression of a list of disconnected statistics.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time,” “part-time,” “postgraduate study,” “salaries,” and “departments,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “pupils did not get the job” for unemployed graduates and “freelancer consultants” for freelance consultants. “Different departments” is also imprecise for employment sectors. Spelling errors such as “Anthroplogy” and “compeleting” are noticeable. Aim for precise terms from the chart and avoid adding meanings that are not shown. For example, describe people as graduates or employees, and refer to salary bands and employment sectors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the reader can usually follow the intended meaning. However, errors occur frequently in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “The chart provide information” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “the part-time worker were contributed 15%” uses an incorrect verb construction. The sentence beginning “while 12% pupils” also needs an article and clearer punctuation. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, such as “Full-time work accounted for 52%,” then combine related comparisons with correctly formed clauses. This will make your meaning more reliable.
