Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main destination, full-time work at 52%, and include several other figures, so the response is relevant to both visuals. However, coverage is partial and some key information is missing: the 8% in full-time postgraduate study is not reported, and the salary overview is inaccurate. The highest salary band is not the highest in every employment type: it is 40% for freelancers, 50% for government, and 30% for private companies. The claim that two categories are “least” in salaries is unclear, and “135 in combine” does not accurately describe the two postgraduate-study destinations, which total 13%. Select the main comparisons accurately and give a clear overview of both visuals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the destination chart and salary table. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is grouped. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the destination paragraph omits one category and moves from unemployment to an unclear combined figure, while the salary paragraph shifts between salary bands and employment types without a consistent comparison pattern. Linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “In contrast” are used, but do not always clarify the relationship between the data. Organise each paragraph around a clear comparison, and use transitions only where they accurately signal that comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “contributes,” “salary,” and “employment,” and attempt to describe rankings with “highest” and “least.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “major contributing factor” is not a natural way to describe the largest destination, and “least contributing factor of total proportion” is unclear. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Unmeployment,” “govertnemnt,” and “percenatge,” as well as inconsistent forms such as “freelancer consultants.” Use precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “share,” and “salary band,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including comparisons joined with “while,” and the overall meaning can often be recovered. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences awkward or unclear. For example, “The bar chart illustrates the proportion what Anthropology graduates … did” has an incorrect clause structure, while “part-time work, full time and postgrad makes 135 in combine” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. Missing or incorrect articles and prepositions also appear in phrases such as “in freelance consultant and government sector.” Build accurate simple sentences first, then practise combining them with controlled comparative clauses and check subject–verb agreement.
