Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies the two visuals and attempts an overview, but it misreports several central features. The largest destination was full-time work at 52%, not an unknown destination; “not known” accounted for only 8%. Unemployment was 12%, while part-time work combined with postgraduate study was 5%, so these were not equal. The claim that few graduates obtained full-time jobs also contradicts the chart. The salary table is only briefly mentioned, and the 50% figure refers to government employees earning $100,000 or more, not the proportion who got government jobs. The response is also incomplete and below the required 150 words. To improve, accurately summarise the main chart pattern and compare salary bands across all three employment types.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening identifies the chart and table, followed by an overview and the start of a detail paragraph. “Overall” and “First of all” signal these stages, so the reader can see an intended structure. However, the progression is not completed: the final paragraph stops after “a considerable number of students,” leaving the main details unexplained. The overview also combines several claims without a clear hierarchy, and the table is not developed into a comparison. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the destination chart and salary table, and connect each paragraph’s details to a clear overview. This would make the organisation more coherent and the relationships between points easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “postgraduate,” “full-time,” “unemployed,” and “range of salaries.” These terms show an attempt to describe the visuals, but word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “graduated anthropology students destination” and “the location of a significance numbers” are not natural ways to describe graduate outcomes. “Big three type of employment” is also imprecise, and “less attracted by graduated” does not clearly express a comparison. Spelling errors such as “diffrenet” and “goverment” further weaken control. Build a more precise range around outcomes and salary bands, and check spelling and common collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “The table presents…” and the sentence beginning “On the other hand,” but grammatical control is uneven. Errors in sentence construction and word forms appear in phrases such as “students destination among diffrenet type of work” and “students who were do part time working.” The sentence “there were few students who got full-time job after graduation in five years” also has problems with article use and the time relationship. These errors make some statements hard to interpret, although the basic message is sometimes recoverable. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses; check articles, plural forms, and verb patterns before submitting.
