Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart illustrates the destination of Anthropology graduates from a particular university, while the accompanying tabular chart depicts the salaries of Anthropology graduates after working for five years.

At first glance, it is clear that the proportion of population who works full-time accounted for 52%, which is highest when compared to other areas. There was a negligible difference shown between the number of people who worked part-time and, those who are unemployed. Moreover, the number of person who worked full-time, while doing post graduation and the people, who are not known were exactly the same that is 8%. The persons did post graduation with a part-time job were noticed for just 5%.

Moving further to the tabular representation, there are 3 types of employment. First, the proportion of freelance consultants are getting salaries around $25000-49,999 accounts for 5% , whereas those who are earning $50,000-74,999 noticed for 15%. The percentage of individuals who are getting wages around $75,000-99,999 and above $100,000 while being free consultants are exactly the same. The population working under government sector and receiving salaries about $25,000-49,999 accounts for 5% and, those who are earning $75,000-99,999 are double than that of who are getting salaries around $50,000-99,999. However, the persons who are working in private companies are 10%, who are getting salaries around $25,000-49,999. A difference of 10% is shown between the persons, who are earning around $25,000-49,999 and the number of persons who are earning around $75000-99,999.

Overall, the number of people who worked full time remained highest, when compared to the others. In contrast, persons who worked part-time while pursuing their post graduation were the lowest. Moreover, individuals who are working in government sectors are getting higher wages and those who are working in private companies are earning the lesser salaries than others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover both visuals and identify the main destination category: full-time work at 52%, with part-time work and unemployment close at 15% and 12%. You also note that part-time work combined with postgraduate study is the smallest category. However, several table comparisons are incomplete or inaccurate. For example, government employees earning $75,000–99,999 (30%) are not double the $50,000–74,999 group (15%)? They are double, but the comparison is expressed unclearly; the final private-company comparison is also incorrect, since 10% versus 25% is a 15-point difference, not 10%. The overview claim that government workers earn more and private-company workers earn less is too broad: the table shows distributions across salary bands, not average pay. Select and report the key contrasts more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on graduate destinations, a paragraph on salaries, and a concluding overview. Sequencing phrases such as “At first glance” and “Moving further” help signal the shift between visuals. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links between comparisons are difficult to follow. The long salary paragraph lists figures without grouping the employment types or highlighting the most meaningful contrasts. Phrases such as “those who are earning” recur, while “However” does not introduce a clear contrast in the private-company sentence. The conclusion also repeats earlier points rather than synthesising the salary patterns. Grouping related salary bands and using clearer references would make progression more effective.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” “tabular representation,” and “salary.” Some attempts at more formal wording show awareness of academic style, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise: “proportion of population” is not the right expression for graduates, “negligible difference” overstates the small gap between 15% and 12%, and “free consultants” changes the meaning of “freelance consultants.” Repeated use of “persons” and “getting salaries” also makes the description less natural. Aim for precise chart language such as “share of graduates,” “freelance consultants,” and “earned” or “fell into the salary band.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “while” and “whereas,” and most of the message remains understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “the proportion of population who works” has problems with both the noun phrase and verb agreement; “the number of person” should use a plural noun; and “the proportion of freelance consultants are getting salaries … accounts for 5%” combines incompatible sentence structures. Commas also interrupt phrases unnecessarily, as in “part-time work and, those who are unemployed.” Use a consistent subject for each comparison and check singular/plural agreement and clause boundaries.
