Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the main destination, correctly reporting that full-time work was the largest category at 52%, and you include several other accurate figures. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the salary table is introduced but not actually summarised, ending with the incomplete phrase “salaries o”. This leaves a major part of the visual without comparisons or key figures. The overview also makes a broad claim that government salaries are highest without explaining the distribution; in fact, the $100,000+ group is largest in government (50%), while freelance consultants have 40% in both the top two bands. The response is also 20 words below the required minimum. To improve, complete the table discussion and compare the salary bands as well as the graduate destinations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction is followed by an overview and then details about graduate destinations. This gives the reader some sense of the intended structure. However, progression breaks down because the final paragraph begins discussing salaries but stops before presenting any information, so the second visual is not integrated into the report. Connections between details are also repetitive and sometimes awkward, as in “On the second number” and “after that”. The overview repeats the destination information rather than clearly previewing both charts. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the destination chart and salary table, and link comparisons with clear expressions such as “by contrast” or “whereas”.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “graduates”, “unemployed”, “full-time work” and “salaries”, so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “the second number” for the next-largest category, “are minimum” for the smallest share, and “government scetor”. There are also repeated forms such as “students” where “graduates” or “respondents” would be more suitable. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling and collocations. Useful alternatives include “accounted for”, “the smallest proportion”, and “salary bracket”; these would make comparisons clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the basic meaning of several figures can be understood. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with frequent errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and sentence construction. For example, “the full time working graduates remains dominant” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “Full time working student as an anthropology gradute is higer stands at 52 percent” combines incompatible structures. The opening sentence also runs directly into the next without a space after the full stop, and the final sentence is incomplete. Use straightforward, complete sentences first—for example, “Full-time employment was the largest destination, at 52%”—then check subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
