Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify two relevant features: full-time work was the most common destination at 52%, while combining part-time work with postgraduate study was least common at 5%. You also note that the government sector had the largest share in the highest salary band, although “one million plus” misstates the table’s $100,000+ category. However, the response covers only a small part of the task: it gives no meaningful account of the other destinations or salary bands, and the overview is incomplete. The chart concerns graduates’ destinations after completing their degree, not activities “after 5 years”; the five-year period applies to the salary table. The response is also 66 words below the required minimum, leaving the information substantially underdeveloped. Report the main patterns from both visuals and compare key figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic sequence: it begins with the pie chart, mentions the largest and smallest destination groups, and then turns to the salary table with “Overall.” This gives the reader some indication of the two visuals being discussed. However, the ideas are not arranged into a clear, complete summary, and the transition to the table is abrupt. “However” does not express a clear contrast between the preceding points, while “Overall” introduces a salary detail rather than a balanced overview of both visuals. The final sentence also ends without developing the comparison. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for an overview and the key details, and connect comparisons explicitly so the progression is easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “full-time,” “part-time,” “postgrad study,” and “government sector,” so the main subject is generally recognisable. There are also attempts to vary expression, such as “a big proportion” and “maximum salary package.” However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural for an academic report: “students served full-time” and “part-time work holder” do not describe the data naturally, and “one million plus salary” is an inaccurate rendering of the $100,000+ band. Spelling errors such as “govenment” and “employs” also reduce accuracy. Prefer precise chart language such as “graduates entered full-time employment” and “earned $100,000 or more,” and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt more than simple statements, including a comparison with “whereas” and a sentence beginning “Overall,” but the range remains limited and several grammatical errors make the report less clear. For example, “after 5 years of their degree completion” has an awkward and inaccurate time construction, while “the government sector give” has a subject–verb agreement error. The phrase “least was those” is also grammatically incomplete, and “its seen” is missing the apostrophe and auxiliary form needed for “it is seen.” These errors occur in short sentences and weaken control of basic structures. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, agreement, articles, and complete comparative clauses before attempting longer sentences.
