Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both visuals and include several key figures, such as 52% in full-time work, 12% unemployed, and the salary distributions for government and freelance roles. The overview also identifies employment as the main destination and higher salaries among freelance consultants. However, the overview is unclear in “more than anthropology graduates entered employment,” and the claim that full-time work was the “least choice” conflicts with the data. The salary comparison is incomplete: government employees, not freelancers, had the largest share earning $100,000 or more (50% versus 40%), while freelancers and government workers both had 40% or more in the top two salary bands. The private-company figures are also confusingly reported. Select and compare the main patterns more accurately and clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the destination chart and salary table. Transitions such as “Looking at the pie chart” and “Turning to the salary data” help the reader follow the shift between visuals, and the figures are generally presented in a sensible order. The main weakness is that some comparisons are difficult to track, particularly the final sentence about private-company salaries, where the relationship between the salary bands and percentages is unclear. The overview also contains an unclear comparison. Make each paragraph’s central point explicit, and use comparison language to connect figures rather than listing them in a way that leaves their significance uncertain.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a suitable range of task vocabulary, including “destinations,” “workforce,” “accounted for,” “proportion,” and “salary data.” These choices show awareness of the language needed to describe charts. However, spelling and word-choice errors are frequent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow: examples include “acedemic,” “employement,” “comanded,” and “anthropologistes.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “least choice was part-time work” and “earned highest salary.” Use standard collocations such as “the smallest proportion chose” and “the highest salary band,” and proofread carefully for spelling and word forms. More precise vocabulary would also help distinguish salary bands from individual salary amounts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use some complex sentence forms, including the overview sentence beginning “Overall” and the contrast introduced by “while.” There is also an attempt to vary sentence openings when moving between the chart and table. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and several sentence structures are faulty or incomplete. For example, “52% graduates secured as full-time…” lacks a clear grammatical construction, while “those who worked in private companies 10% graduates earned…” combines clauses without a clear link. Agreement and article use also need attention in phrases such as “50% of its workforce” and “the highest wages.” Build simpler, complete sentences first, then add comparisons with accurate clauses and punctuation.
