Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the two visuals and report several relevant figures, including 52% in full-time work, 15% in part-time work and 12% unemployed. You also make a useful comparison between the salary bands, noting that 50% of government employees and 40% of freelance consultants earn $100,000 or more. However, coverage is partial and some details are inaccurate or unclear: the 5% figure refers to part-time work combined with postgraduate study, not postgraduate study with part-time work as phrased, and the claim that private-company salaries have a “high” starting ratio is not supported, since 10% are in the lowest band. The overview is also vague and does not clearly summarise the main patterns across both visuals. Select the key contrasts and report them precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it begins by introducing the chart and table, then discusses graduate destinations and salaries. The use of figures helps readers follow the topic. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The second paragraph repeats information already given in the first, and phrases such as “after that” and “also” do not always show the intended relationship between categories. The sentence about postgraduate study is particularly difficult to interpret because it combines categories without clearly distinguishing them. A clearer structure would be an introduction, a concise overview, and separate paragraphs for destinations and salary comparisons. Use linking expressions to show contrasts and rankings rather than repeating the same points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “full time work,” “post graduate,” “sectors,” and “salary,” and the main subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation problems make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “sallery,” “goverment,” “un emlopyed,” and “adding part time with their study.” “After some years” is also imprecise because the table reports salaries after five years of work. Aim for accurate terms such as “earnings,” “employment sector,” and “salary band,” and use the chart’s category labels consistently. Proofreading spelling and choosing natural combinations of words would make your comparisons clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and some basic meaning can be understood, for example, “About 52% of people are doing full time work.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms. “Most of people are doing” needs an article, while “after that is part time work” lacks a clear grammatical subject and verb. In “Many other are also doing post graduate,” the determiner and noun form do not agree, and “people making 100,000+ are about 40%” has an unclear structure. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject, such as “The proportion earning over $100,000 was 50% in government and 40% among freelancers.”
