Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You report most of the destination figures accurately, including full-time work at 52% and unemployment at 12%, and you identify that government-sector salaries reach 50% in the highest band. However, the response has no clear overview of the main patterns, and the salary discussion is incomplete: it gives only the first and last figures for some sectors rather than comparing all four salary bands. The statement that freelance consultants are “getting 55 to 40%” misreports the data; the figures are 5%, 15%, 40% and 40%. The private-company figures are also only partly covered. These omissions and inaccuracies mean the task is addressed only partially, with key features under-reported. Add a concise overview and select accurate comparisons across the table.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from the graduate destinations to the salary table, and phrases such as “First of all” and “On the other hand” signal a change in focus. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited: the opening says the report will discuss the charts, rather than presenting a useful overview, and the destination figures are listed one by one without grouping or comparison. The salary paragraph also jumps between sectors and gives little explanation of how their distributions differ. Some linking phrases feel mechanical or do not express a meaningful contrast. Organise the response around an overview followed by two focused comparisons, and use linking words only where they clarify the relationship between points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary such as “destination,” “graduates,” “postgrad study,” “salaries” and “government sectors,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or awkward, including “freelence consultants,” “starting of the private companies” and “the destination … is for full time worker.” Repetition of “shows” and “percentage” also makes the report less precise. Aim for standard chart-reporting collocations and accurate labels, such as “the proportion of graduates in full-time employment” and “salary bands.” Check spelling and use neutral descriptive language rather than evaluative wording such as “not good,” which is unsuitable for reporting the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and several figures are expressed in understandable clauses. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and the range of sentence structures is limited. For example, “The destination … is for full time worker is 52%” contains a faulty clause structure, while “The workers in government sectors are starting from 5% and ending on 50%” uses an unsuitable tense and construction for describing table data. There are also problems with articles, agreement and punctuation, as in “write report on it” and the comma after “graduates” in “The destination of Anthropology graduates, is…”. Build clear subject–verb sentences, use the present simple for chart data, and check articles and sentence boundaries.
