Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response identifies some accurate figures, including full-time work at 52% and the two 8% categories, but it does not provide a complete summary of the chart and table. It misreports the 5% category: this represents graduates combining part-time work with postgraduate study, not students studying full-time postgraduate courses. It also gives no overview of the main patterns and omits the salary table entirely, so important comparisons between employment sectors and income bands are missing. The response is also substantially below the required 150 words, leaving the task only minimally addressed. To improve, include a clear overview, accurately describe the remaining destinations, and compare the salary distributions across all three employment types.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to sequence information using phrases such as “Furthermore” and “Following this,” and the opening sentence signals that both visuals are relevant. However, the response stops mid-thought after “Following this,” and has no clear paragraph structure or progression from an overview to supporting details. The salary table is not discussed, so the two parts of the task are not connected into a coherent report. Some linking is also awkward: “Successively” does not clearly express the relationship between the categories. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and focused detail paragraphs, and use transitions that accurately show contrast or comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response shows some useful range for describing proportions, including “account for,” “lion’s share,” and “constitute.” These choices indicate an attempt to avoid repeating basic terms. However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural in this context: “the works that Anthropology graduates did” and “occupying … of the chart” are not idiomatic ways to describe destinations and percentages. “Negligible” also overstates the significance of a 5% category, while “Successively” is an unsuitable connector. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “stuying” and “Followng,” and repetition of “the figure/chart.” Use precise chart language such as “destination,” “accounted for,” and “share,” and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response attempts both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the opening sentence communicates the two visuals’ subjects. However, grammatical control is uneven. The phrase “after undergraduate course” is missing an article, and “the students … and unknown anthropologists holds” has faulty agreement and an unclear subject. In “Part-time anthropologists hold 15% of the the figure,” the repeated article and sentence construction need correction. Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, and the final sentence is incomplete. These errors do not make every point impossible to understand, but they reduce clarity. Practise accurate articles, subject–verb agreement, and complete sentence construction, then proofread punctuation and sentence endings.
