Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both the destination chart and the salary table, and you identify the main destination as full-time work. Several figures are reported accurately, including 52%, 15%, 12%, and the 40% salary shares for freelance consultants. However, the overview is partly unclear: part-time work plus postgraduate study, at 5%, is the smallest category, but the wording “part time work and postgrad study students” does not make that comparison precise. The salary overview also says government employment has a high percentage without specifying that its leading figure is the 50% earning $100,000 or more. Some table details are inaccurate or unclear, especially “$75,00o,999,” so select and report the salary bands precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the chart and table. This makes the two visual elements easy to distinguish, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “Lastly” help signal relationships. However, some connections are mechanical or imprecise. For example, “Unemployed graduates accounted 12%, which is lower than part time workers, because 15%...” uses “because” where a direct comparison would be clearer. The overview also combines two points with “While” without a fully balanced structure. Improve progression by grouping related comparisons and using explicit references such as “this category” only when the referent is unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted,” “freelance consultants,” and “government sector,” and the reader can generally identify the intended categories. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts difficult to interpret. Examples include “woring,” “postdrad,” “recive,” and “comparsion”; the salary figure written as “$75,00o,999” is especially confusing. Phrases such as “what Anthropology ... did” and “people who freelance consultants” are also imprecise. Build a reliable set of chart-reporting expressions and check spelling and number formatting carefully so that your vocabulary communicates the data accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a comparison with “while” and a relative clause beginning “who.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships or meanings unclear. For example, “undergraduate student full-time work have highest proportion” has problems with noun phrasing, agreement, and articles; “the government sector have” also needs subject–verb agreement. In “people who freelance consultants were most likely,” the clause is not grammatically complete, while “Unemployed graduates accounted 12%” is missing a suitable preposition or verb pattern. Practise accurate sentence frames such as “X accounted for…” and “the proportion of graduates who…” before adding more complex comparisons.
